Book Review: The Burglar in the Rye by Lawrence Block

Book: The Burglar in the Rye

Genre: Mystery
Rating: 9/10

Review: This is one of the Bernie Rhodenbahr novels. I have only read one other one, I think, long ago. But this one was a Kindle deal so I bought it. In Burglar in the Rye, Bernie has to steal some letters written by a famous but reclusive author. It starts out simple, but gets more and more complex, with multiple thefts, two murders, mistaken identity, and lots of lies of all sorts. Through it all, Bernie has to keep up running his bookstore and caring for his cat.

This isn't my favorite type of mystery - I prefer ones that are a bit more straightforward - but Lawrence Block pulls it all off and keeps the laughs coming along with the plot twists.

About the Author: Lawrence Block is one of the best known mystery writers in the world. He has been writing books for 60 years and has written more than 50 novels. He lives in New York City.
