Book Review: Binti: Home by Nnedi Okorafor

Author: Nnedi Okorafor
Year published: 2017
Date finished: Dec 16, 2017
Genre: Fantasy
Rating: 8/10

Review: This is the sequel to Binti, which I thought was fantastic and reviewed here. I didn't like this one quite as much.  It's no fault of the author or the book, but Home was more fantastic (in the sense of fantasy) and less like science fiction that the earlier book and I am more of a fan of SF. There's much more mysticism in the sequel.

In any case, Binti, the protagonist, has now returned home to the Himba tribe in Africa from her time off-planet at the galaxy's most prestigious university. She faces the negative reactions of her tribe and finds new challenges as well.

About the Author: Nnedi Okorafor is a Nigerian-American author; she has written SF, fantasy, and magical realism with African themes for both children and adults.
